Also, I'm trying to sell the three bikes above, for freaking PEANUTS. $200 for a Cannondale with slicks and fenders that is such a smooth and quiet commuter. And these two Iron Horses with band new Shimano Cues 9 speed drivetrains. I'm losing money at $200, and getting ZERO interest.
In fact, I've given up on the polished one, and I've redone it with some barely adequate 7 speed parts, and I'm going to donate it in the hopes of getting some good karma. Which I don't even believe in...
I can understand - to some degree - the Equipe not selling so quickly. While it is beautifully painted, it is a bit of a hodge-podge for parts; not fully modernized, and not properly period-correct.
And then there's the Porsche..... I just recently found that the fork is toast and the internals will need to be replaced. It's not hard to do at all, but it's $100. I just don't see any point in spending $100 on making it work when nobody here wants it anyway.
But perfectly good bikes. Even above average bikes - that Trek has a lugged steel, True Temper frame. The Brodie has RaceFace cranks on it. You simply cannot buy new bikes even close to this level of quality.
But in my experience, this seller's asking prices - in the neighbourhood of $300 to $400 - are way out. Maybe he just isn't familiar with what's going on, but I'm certain these will never sell at the prices he's currently asking. I hope they do, because they're worth it, but the market just isn't there at the moment.
I don't know if the market will ever come back, but I hope it does. Not just because I want to make money - and because I don't want to lose money - but because every bike I showed here is a better option than what you can get new for the same money. As I showed in my last post, a new Hyper is just junk compared to any of the nine bikes here.
